Finance Expert: Liverpool have ‘phenomenal reach’ after new reveal with revenue boost

Dan Plumley believes that Liverpool have “phenomenal reach” after viewing figures were revealed in the Premier League recently.

It was shared at the start of August that the Reds were the Premier League’s most-watched team with their audience reaching around 471 million people [10 August] last season.

The football finance expert admitted that clubs can use this to increase their revenue, with the numbers adding power from a commercial perspective.

“If clubs begin to monetise that global dance properly, then there’s an opportunity for an increased revenue there as well through different and better forms of fan engagement,” he exclusively told Liverpool News.

“You can then tie that back into the commercial perspective so you can kind of do both which is what clubs are looking to do but certainly from a financial perspective you can understand the strength of a sell from a club to a partner that says we can put your brand in front of 471 million people across the world weekly.

“That’s phenomenal reach and you can see the power then that it would provide from a commercial perspective which will boost Liverpool’s revenue and again continue.”

Liverpool summer business could help boost revenue further

This is great news and despite that added power, transfers were at a premium this summer.

The Reds did acquire the services of both Giorgi Mamardashvili [Fabrizio Romano, 26 August] and former Juventus ace Federico Chiesa towards the end of the window but they were two areas of the squad that Liverpool didn’t urgently need cover for.

There’s still plenty of time left in the campaign for things to change at Anfield but, for now, at least, the Reds seem to be in a good place and if they manage to keep up their solid run of form, their revenue could be further boosted by placing higher in the Premier League or even advancing into the latter stages of the Champions League.
