Liverpool to avoid Darwin Nunez upgrade as Dan Bardell shares ‘areas of concern’ verdict
Dan Bardell doesn’t think Liverpool will go after a striker in the transfer market while Darwin Nuez is still at the club.
This comes after the Reds have been linked with a move for many different candidates in the market including Bundesliga ace Maximillian Beier.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Bardell shared that he doesn’t think the Reds will go after a striker because the club have other “areas of concern”.
“I think as long as Darwin Nunez is there they don’t sign a number nine,” Bardell said. “They need a suitor for him to be able to go and get a striker who would cost a fee.
“I think they’ve got other areas of concern at the moment.
“I actually think they’re quite well set because they’ve got all these young players facilitating the squad.
“They’re having a good pre-season but if you look at that number six position, was Fabinho ever suitably replaced?
“Would they like another player who suits what [Arne] Slot does? I think whilst Darwin’s there there’s no way they’d move for a striker.”
Liverpool need to bolster their ranks before 30 August
There’s no denying that Liverpool need to improve their ranks across the board before the transfer window closes.
The club finished third in the Premier League last season but will be looking to improve their standing this term.
Although the club are yet to make any signings, it’s clear which areas of the squad need strengthening.
The Reds could ideally do with both a number six and a centre-back before the window closes.

In terms of defensive reinforcement, there have been no concrete moves made at the time of writing but players such as Marc Guehi [Fabrizio Romano, 14 July] and Lanus ace Julio Soler [Daily Express, 4 August] have both been linked.
Solanke would have been a strong addition to the Reds’ ranks but as Bardell mentioned, while players such as Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota are still at the club, it’s unlikely that any moves for a number nine will take place.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds might have already found a solution to their midfield dilemma.
