Joshua Sonni-Lambie the hero for Liverpool youngsters in nine-goal thriller
Liverpool U18s midfielder Joshua Sonni-Lambie scored the decisive goal in a 5-4 thriller against Port Vale on Saturday (3 August).
Port Vale scored twice with the Reds 4-2 in the lead to level the match heading into the final ten minutes before Sonni-Lambie converted a cross from Oliver O’Connor in the 85th minute to settle the tie.
Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side had five different goalscorers, with Joe Bradshaw, Louis Enahoro-Marcus, Afolami Onanuga, Scofield Lonmeni and Sonni-Lambie getting on the scoresheet.
Joshua Sonni-Lambie could have bright Liverpool future
There will be more eyes on the Liverpool youth teams than ever before this season, following the success of the academy players under Jurgen Klopp last term.
James McConnell, Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns were the most notable additions from the AXA Training Centre called up by Klopp to ease the burden left by injuries to several first-team stars.
Jarell Quansah also established himself as a first-team regular and most recently, Trey Nyoni has been impressing Arne Slot during the Reds pre-season tour of the USA.

They have paved the path for the youth players at Anfield, and scoring a decisive winner for the U18s will put Sonni-Lambie on the watchlist.
The 16-year-old was ever-present for the Reds in the U18 Premier League last season with one goal and three assists across 19 appearances.
Bridge-Wilkinson has a host of talented young players at his disposal to improve on last season’s sixth-placed finish in the league, and Sonni-Lambie will be at the heart of the midfield for the Reds.
