Liverpool future for Wataru Endo becomes clear amid latest development – report
The future of Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo has become clear following the latest development from Sky Sports.
It was reported this week, that the Reds had rejected a £11.8m bid from the French side for Endo with Bundesliga sides also interested in the midfielder.
Writing on their transfer blog (30 July), Marseille will not make an improved offer for Endo according to French football expert Johnathan Johnson.
He said: “This was an interesting one because Marseille have now signed Hojbjerg, Ismael Kone as well.
“I think this is one that was of interest to Marseille earlier in the summer and they probably won’t be revisiting that now.
“I think the Marseille rebuild is definitely going to draw on talent from the Premier League, but I’m not sure they will returning with a bid for Endo.”
Endo will feature in Liverpool and Arne Slot’s plans this season
Endo proved the doubters wrong at Anfield last season and adapted well to the Premier League following his move from Stuttgart last summer.
The 31-year-old joined in the worst of circumstances, with fans underwhelmed with the signing after the club spent all summer pursuing a ‘big name’ number six and failed in their approaches for Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo who both signed for Chelsea.
Liverpool are not actively trying to sell Endo but are in the market again this summer for a defensive midfielder (Fabrizio Romano, 29 July), and with Stefan Bajcetic returning to the side, a new number six could spell the end of Endo’s time at Anfield.
It is unknown at this stage which Bundesliga sides are interested in a move for the Japan international, or whether that interest will materialise into a concrete offer, but for now Slot is planning for the season with Endo in his side.

He established himself as a prominent figure in the midfield under Jurgen Klopp but, was one of the culprits that suffered a massive decline in performance as the Reds crashed out of the Premier League title race and all cup competitions.
Liverpool have found themselves in a difficult position this summer, Copa America and Euro 2024 have delayed the return of the club’s senior players, and the Reds have undergone a massive structural change within the club’s hierarchy and have welcomed a new manager in Slot to Anfield.
The Reds are the only Premier League side yet to sign a player this summer but the gears seem to be turning in motion as Slot assesses his side and begins to put his stamp on the Liverpool squad.
In other Liverpool news, Liverpool really rate Newcastle star Gordon, he’s high on shortlist according to Fabrizio Romano.
