Liverpool Women ace Mia Enderby scores as England crashes out of U19 Euros

Liverpool Women’s forward Mia Enderby scored again for England in their 3-1 defeat to Spain in the U19 European Championship semi-final (24 July).

The 19-year-old entered the match at half-time and scored two minutes into the second half to immediately put England back into the contest with one goal separating the sides.

Her goal was no more than a consolation as Daniela Arques Lázaro restored the reigning champion’s two-goal deficit and will play in the final on Sunday for their third consecutive U19s Euro crown.

Enderby made three substitute appearances in the competition and recorded two goals and one assist.

Liverpool and Matt Beard can count on Mia Enderby

Matt Beard will be eager to welcome back Enderby to Melwood after an impressive international campaign.

She has proven to be a vital player for her country, with three goal contributions in three appearances, despite not starting a single match at the tournament.

Enderby failed to register a goal in her debut season in the Women’s Super League last term, but she had the faith of Beard as she started the final four matches of the 2023/24 season.

The club-record signing of Olivia Smith further adds to the pressure to succeed at the St. Helens stadium next season, with Beard looking to add goals to his side.

Enderby’s goal contributions proved vital for the Young Lionesses’ progression to the semi-final of the tournament.

She stepped up and scored a crucial penalty in the final minutes of the 1-1 draw against Serbia (17 July) and assisted Poppy Pritchard with the only goal of the game with a win against France in the final group stage game (20 July).

Her goal against Spain marked her fifth goal in nine international appearances as she looks to continue her form into the upcoming WSL season.

Liverpool finished 35 goals worse off than last season’s champions Chelsea and scored the lowest amount of goals in the league’s top five sides.

Beard will have Smith and Sophie Roman Haug at his disposal next season, and now Enderby has forced herself into the conversation with her international form.
