Olivia Smith shares Liverpool Women aspirations for new WSL season
Olivia Smith has opened up on her aspirations for Liverpool Women next season and has feels the team has “so much potential”.
The Canada Women’s international broke the Reds’ women’s transfer record after arriving at the club this summer from Sporting CP.
Smith spoke to Liverpoolfc.com on Wednesday (24 July) after her first full training session and opened up on the team’s aspirations for the upcoming season.
“Ultimately, for the team, I think qualifying for the Champions League is a big thing that I’m looking for,” Smith said.
“It is definitely possible because you look at the season the team have just had, it was unbelievable, amazing.
“Knowing that we also have a young team, great staff, we have so much potential going into the season.”
Liverpool Women mean business this season
As aforementioned, the addition of Smith to Liverpool’s ranks actually broke the Women’s team record transfer fee for the club.
It displays that FSG and head coach Matt Beard mean business this season in a massive statement of intent from the club.
Last season was one of the team’s best in terms of performance, managing to end the season in fourth place.
Granted, they were a fair distance away from first place (14 points) but compared to their seventh-placed finish last term, it’s a major improvement.
To make things even sweeter, under-19 gem Mia Enderby even managed to score a last-minute penalty for England in the women’s Euro 2024 under-19 Championship against Serbia last week.

Should the form of their players continue as they left off last season, there’s a high chance that they could finish higher up the table than even this season.
No further additions have been made to the squad yet but there’s no doubt that before the start of the campaign, additional players will be brought in.
