View: Mia Enderby proves point to Liverpool Women boss Matt Beard with crucial England penalty
Liverpool Women forward Mia Enderby scored a crucial last-minute penalty for England against Serbia in the Women’s Under-19 European Championship (17 July).
The Young Lionesses were awarded a penalty in the dying embers of the match with the side 1-0 down when Enderby stepped up and converted the spot-kick to salvage the draw in Marijampole and all but ensure their passage to the knockouts.
Enderby proved her worth to the England side and sent a message to Liverpool Women manager Matt Beard ahead of the new Women’s Super League season.
Enderby is ready to step up for Liverpool
Beard has made it no secret of his intent to improve the Liverpool frontline this summer.
The Reds broke their transfer record to secure the signing of 19-year-old Olivia Smith from Sporting CP for £210,000 (BBC Sport, 27 June).
Liverpool secured a fourth-placed finish in the WSL last term and will need to add more goals to the team to challenge Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea at the top of the league.
Sophie Roman Haug was the Reds’ top scorer in the WSL last season with seven goals and was 14 goals behind eventual top scorer Khadija Shaw of Manchester City.

Enderby finished the WSL strong last season and started the final four matches of the season in her WSL debut campaign.
She is yet to record her first goal in a Liverpool shirt but her performances for England might make Beard reconsider his transfer strategy.
Her penalty against Serbia took her total to four goals in seven appearances for the U-19 side as she proved she is willing to handle the pressure on the international stage.
The 19-year-old was an unused substitute in the 10-0 victory over Lithuania in the first group game, but she could now be in the picture to start in the match against France on Saturday (20 July).
Enderby has found her goalscoring touch for England and can carry that form back to Liverpool and allow Beard to put away the chequebook and put his faith in her for the upcoming season.
