Six Liverpool Women players called up for Euro 2025 qualifiers

Six Liverpool Women players have been called up to represent their countries in UEFA European Championship qualifiers this month.

The club confirmed on their official website (10 July) that six of Matt Beard’s side will be participating in the Euro 2025 qualifying between 12 July and 15 July.

Sophie Roman Haug (Norway), Marie Hobinger (Austria), Jenna Clark (Scotland), Ceri Holland (Wales), Niamh Fahey and Leanne Kiernan (both Republic of Ireland) are amongst the Reds representing their national teams.

Missy Bo Kearns has joined the England camp on stand-by for the Lionesses.

Liverpool forwards get opportunity to impress Matt Beard for next season

The club-record signing of Olivia Smith from Sporting CP for £210,000 (BBC Sport, 27 June) has sent shockwaves through the Liverpool squad.

Fenway Sports Group have outlined their intentions to financially back Beard this summer as they look to improve on the Reds’ fourth-place finish in the Women’s Super League last term.

Whilst the attack is the area of focus for Beard this summer (liverpoolfc.com, 4 July), the Smith signing is a signal of intent that the club will spend big to plug the holes in the side.

Kiernan and Haug will need to impress in the qualifiers. The pair scored a combined 12 WSL goals last season, one less than Smith managed for Sporting.

Mia Enderby will also be hoping to continue her international form. She was called up to the England-U19 side and has three goals in her last five international outings.

Kearns only registered one goal and one assist last season and will need to be ready if required for England and take the opportunity to impress Beard.

The Reds are on a path to challenge Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal at the top of the WSL next season.

There is no better platform than the international stage to showcase your talents and the Reds forwards need to just that, with all their positions in the first team under doubt.
