Al-Nassr to move for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson amid 48-hour deadline

Al-Nassr will make a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson if Manchester City do not accept their bid for Ederson, according to TEAMtalk.

Writing on their website (12 July), the report outlined that Ederson has agreed to personal terms with the Saudi Arabian club, but Man City are yet to accept the offer.

Al-Nassr have made signing a goalkeeper a top priority this summer and have given City 48 hours to accept the offer in the region of £21-25million.

Alisson is the preferred alternative and they will make an offer to Liverpool should a move for Ederson fail to materialise.

Liverpool will not sell Alisson under any circumstances

Liverpool will not entertain an offer for Alisson should one be submitted by Al-Nassr and the player feels the same, unwilling to jeopardise his Brazil future with a move to Saudi Arabia.

But Al-Nassr have the financial firepower to provide the 31-year-old with a lucrative contract and the Reds an offer they will have to consider.

Alisson has already rejected the proposal (Yahoo, 13 June), but the Saudi club are willing to go all-out for the shot-stopper if Ederson decides to remain in Manchester.

The Saudi Public Investment Fund, owners of Newcastle United, are behind Al-Nassr and are pushing to sign a world-class goalkeeper this summer.

Liverpool Alisson Becker

Despite the riches, Saudi Arabia is where a footballer’s career goes to die – just look at former Reds Sadio Mane, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Even former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson jumped ship to Ajax after joining manager Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.

Alisson still has plenty more years of top-flight football left in his career – indeed, he could easily star for the Reds well into his mid-to-late 30s.

Slot cannot afford to lose his starting goalkeeper ahead of the new season. Adrian has left for Real Betis and Caoimhin Kelleher will push for a move in pursuit of first-team football (The Athletic, 29 May).

Alisson is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world and, while it could represent a substantial coup for Saudi Arabia, it makes no sense for his career at this stage.
