Liverpool ace Conor Bradley wins new Arne Slot fitness test
Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley has won Arne Slot’s new Liverpool fitness test, according to STATSports.
In a video posted to their TikTok account (6 July), they replied to a comment that Bradley had won the fitness test out of the players available to Slot.
When asked who won the test, they said: “They’re not all back yet, but of the group who are back, Conor Bradley.”
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout campaign at Anfield last season as he made 23 appearances across all competitions.
Bradley determined to stake claim in Liverpool side
Bradley established himself as a worthy competitor to Trent Alexander-Arnold during his time on the sidelines last season.
He recorded six assists and scored a fantastic goal against Chelsea in the 4-1 win at Anfield in January, he also started against the same opponents in the Carabao Cup final a month later, winning his first trophy with the club.
The Northern Ireland international has arguably the hardest task in the Liverpool squad, displacing Trent.
At the moment, the only possible avenue for that to happen is if Slot follows the Gareth Southgate approach and plays Trent in midfield next season.
But he has gotten off to the best possible start in winning Slot’s new fitness test amongst the current players available.
Slot has moved on from Jurgen Klopp’s infamous lactate test to a six-minute race test instead to determine the players’ fitness levels.
The test determines a player’s maximum aerobic speed and understands the intensity the individual can play at.
A welcome change, as the test results will help the staff monitor the player’s intensity levels and avoid injuries that dominated the 2020/21 season and last season.
Whether Bradley maintains the highest score when the rest of the squad returns from international duty remains to be seen, but there is no doubt he has made the best first impression to Slot ahead of his first season at the Anfield helm.
