Liverpool set to kickstart transfer activity, they can afford high prices
Dan Plumley has admitted that no player that Liverpool will be in the market for this summer will be cheap in the summer transfer window.
Compared to the rest of the Premier League, the Reds have had a fairly quiet transfer window so far, but they are expected to spring into action with Arne Slot soon.
The football finance expert reacted as links for the likes of Newcastle attacker Anthony Gordon emerged, with player plus cash bids mooted [teamTALK].
“No player that Liverpool are in the market for will be cheap,” he exclusively told Liverpool News.
“They’re in that elite category of clubs at the minute in terms of if you’re selling to a club like Liverpool then you’ll be looking for a high price. It’s also a case of the new manager’s expectations and where he thinks the squad is at.
“It’s not a bad squad by any stretch of the imagination but there will be elements that they look to strengthen and they’ll probably go into the market for sure.
“If you are talking about players at that kind of calibre [Anthony Gordon] those kinds of players in this market will go for a high price and Liverpool can afford that price, it just depends if they’re willing to pay it for players they really want.
“I’d expect some activity going forward, especially with the new manager coming in.”
The transfer moves that Liverpool could make this summer
Despite the fact that Slot has only been the Head Coach of Liverpool for a little over a month, there have been plenty of names planted in the rumour mill.
The likes of Leny Yoro and Gordon are the two main names that have been popping up [The Telegraph, 1 July] throughout the summer transfer window.
In fact, the Reds have even been offered the former Everton man by Newcastle when they held concerns about their PSR limit.

Yoro is another player that the Reds have been desperately vying for throughout the window. It has even been reported on 9 July that Slot is ready to match Manchester United’s bid [Ben Jacobs] for the Frenchman should he divert his attention from Real Madrid.
Nothing has yet been finalised in terms of deals but over the next few weeks there is bound to be some moves made by the Merseyside club.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds have responded to a bid for Nat Phillips.
