Liverpool make first-team decision on goalkeeping gem Vitezslav Jaros
Vitezslav Jaros is set to take Adrian’s place in Arne Slot’s squad next season, according to James Pearce.
The journalist reported via X [8 July] that the 22-year-old will be the Reds’ third-choice ‘keeper behind Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher.
Jaros spent the second half of the 2023/24 term on loan to Austrian side Sturm Graz and proved enough to become part of Slot’s first team next term.
Who is Liverpool ace Vitezslav Jaros?
Jaros is a 22-year-old goalkeeper from the Czech Republic who has made one international appearance for his country.
Although he is yet to play within the Reds’ first team, while on loan to Austrian side Sturm Graz he managed to make a total of 21 appearances.
During his time in the Austrian Bundesliga, he only conceded 11 goals in 14 outings and kept five clean sheets.
Although the departure of Adrian will have come as a shock to most, his departure has freed up a ‘non-homegrown’ spot in the Reds’ squad, which means they will have room to register a foreign player to their Premier League squad should they choose to sign one [The Athletic, 1 July].
Indeed, there’s always the chance that Kelleher could leave Anfield this summer, which would mean Jaros would be promoted to second-choice.
Although a move for the Irishman isn’t yet on the cards, there have been plenty of rumours regarding his future and the fact that he’s too good to be second fiddle means that an exit is a distinct possibility.
