Doctor issues Leny Yoro fitness verdict as Liverpool eye new transfer

Liverpool are unlikely to initially expect Leny Yoro to play 90 minutes regularly, if they end up signing him, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that there could also be the risk of overload and fatigue as he has played a lot of games for an 18-year-old.

This comes after the Athletic reported on 1 July that the Reds’ interest in the Lille centre-back is concrete but they face competition from Real Madrid.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Liverpool News 247: “Yoro is just 18 and he has played a decent amount of professional football thus far.

Just last season, he played 32 league games so yes, there’s always that risk of fatigue and overload but we also don’t know what his habits and commitment look like.

He very well could be adapting but I’d expect his next club to still bring him along methodically and monitor his game time initially to guard against those injury worries.

This could mean bringing him off the bench on numerous occasions before he’s ready for 90 minutes.

Liverpool must prioritise Leny Yoro transfer

Liverpool should prioritise signing Yoro due to his immense potential and the club’s need for a long-term defensive solution.

The 18-year-old’s impressive performances at Lille, coupled with his age, make him an ideal candidate to bolster the Reds’ backline.

With the departure of Joel Matip and the advancing age of Virgil van Dijk, securing Yoro would provide the club with a reliable and promising centre-back for years to come.

Furthermore, his ability to play in a high line and his ball-playing skills align perfectly with their style of play.
