Liverpool justified in rejecting Newcastle United transfer offer for Jarell Quansah
Liverpool have made the right decision in rejecting Newcastle United’s offer for defender Jarell Quansah.
The Reds turned down an offer for Quansah from Newcastle in a part-exchange bid which would have seen Anthony Gordon move to Anfield [Daily Mail, 29 June].
Liverpool are long-term admirers of the ex-Everton forward but were unwilling to part ways with Quansah.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout season at Anfield last term, featuring in 17 Premier League matches.
He also made appearances in the Europa League and League cup.
Jarell Quansah can be a future star at Liverpool
Liverpool made the right decision in refusing to allow Quansah to move to Newcastle.
Quansah replaced Joel Matip in the first-team due to a long-term injury to the Cameroon centre-back.
His performances were rewarded with a selection to the England Euro 2024 provisional squad.
He ultimately didn’t make the final squad but was named on the waiting list in case of injury.
At club level, Quansah took to the Premier League like a duck to water.

With two goals, averaging a conversion rate of 33 per cent, he proved to be vital at both ends of the pitch [FBref].
Jurgen Klopp moulded him into a first-team defender, with a 7.0 average match rating.
Establishing himself as a proper Premier League ball playing centre-back, he completed 89 per cent of his passes.
As per FBref, he also proved solid defensively as he won 64 per cent of his duels contested and averaged 4.2 ball recoveries per game.
Quansah turned creator in the League Cup also, with three assists in four starts in the competition.
He scored his first Liverpool goal in the Europa League in the 2-1 loss against Union SG in December and bettered his Premier League pass accuracy in the competition with 92 per cent.
Liverpool are a club that love data and statistics and the underlying numbers tell the story of Quansah’s debut season.
After a year of first-team experience in all competitions, Quansah is now positioned to develop into a future star for Arne Slot. No player at a rival club is therefore worth replacing him for.
In other Liverpool news, two new signings could feature in Arne Slot’s first Reds’ XI.
