Liverpool transfer news as £8m update shared on Nat Phillips

Liverpool will demand £8million to allow Nat Phillips to leave the club this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Writing on their website [27 June], the newspaper revealed Liverpool’s valuation as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield.

Phillips formed a partnership with Rhys Williams during the 2020/21 season, which saw the Reds finish third in the league despite suffering an injury crisis at centre-back.

Ipswich, Mainz and several second-tier sides are reportedly interested in a move for Phillips, including Cardiff, where he spent the second half of the season on loan.

Phillips deserves clarity on his Liverpool future

Nat Phillips future at Liverpool has been up in the air since that indifferent 2020/21 season.

The 27-year-old has had loan spells at Bournemouth, Celtic and Cardiff and has failed to see a permanent move materialise.

He endured a torrid time at Celtic in the first half of last season and only featured eight times.

A move to Cardiff was more successful but it’s time to sort out the permanent future of Phillips.

Liverpool Anfield

Liverpool once valued Phillips at £15 million back in 2022 and no club met the valuation.

With that price-tag more than halved, there is a sense of deja vu with Phillips.

His failure to perform consistently in top-flight football limits the amount of options available to him.

A more likely destination for him is a Championship club and not many have £8million to spend on one player.

The last thing that Liverpool or Phillips need is another drawn out summer of little to no interest in the player.

He was once the hero that helped the club secure Champions League football against the odds.

He deserves to have his permanent future resolved this summer.
