Liverpool eye summer transfer for Atalanta star Ademola Lookman
Liverpool are “interested” in making a move for Atalanta ace Ademola Lookman this summer, according to Calcio Mercato.
The Italian outlet reports (25 June) that the Reds are “willing” to pay £50.6million to acquire the Nigeria international’s services.
However, they aren’t alone in the chase for the 2023/24 Europa League Man of the Match as both Chelsea and Manchester United are also vying for his transfer.
Why Liverpool are looking at Ademola Lookman
As seems to be the case with most Premier League teams this season, Liverpool are readying themselves for a lot of change this season.
Arne Slot has already taken over Jurgen Klopp’s role and the likes of Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara have both left the club upon the expiry of their contracts.
Although no transfers have yet been finalised, the Merseyside-based club have been linked with a plethora of talent already.
Slot himself has apparently approved a move for Athletic Club star Nico Williams [Caught Offside, 22 June] who has a release clause worth around £42.2m.

Not only does this point out that the Reds are vying for the transfer of a winger but it also highlights why the club have been linked with players such as Rodrygo and Arda Guler from Real Madrid [Estadio Deportivo, 21 June].
It’s evident that Slot and Richard Hughes have a specific target in mind this summer and are looking to reinforce their attack.
If Lookman can consistently produce performances such as the one he pulled out in last season’s Europa League final, he would be an insane coup for the Reds ahead of the 2024/25 term.
In other Liverpool news, Jeremie Frimpong has been touted with a move to the Reds this summer.
