Liverpool ace Andy Robertson flops as David Moyes bemoans ‘disappointing’ moment
Liverpool star Andy Robertson has been slammed by ex-Everton manager David Moyes for his performance in Scotland’s 1-0 defeat to Hungary.
Speaking on BBC One’s Match of the Day [23 July], the Scottish manager admitted he wanted more from Robertson as Steve Clarke’s side crashed out of the tournament in Germany thanks to Kevin Tsoboth’s dramatic winner.
Moyes, working as a pundit for the game, was particularly critical of Robertson’s lack of quality from set-pieces.
“I am more disappointed that Andy Robertson hasn’t given a chance with a couple of opportunities to cross it in,” said Moyes.
“He delivers brilliantly well for Liverpool and I am expecting him to put the ball in the right areas because we have people who can head it and then we have the chance to score. But we haven’t put that ball in the right areas to give us that opportunity.”
The Scotland captain struggled in their clash against Hungary, failing to make a similar impact to that of Liverpool teammate Dominik Szoboszlai.
Andy Robertson unable to replicate Liverpool form on international stage
As Scotland crashed out of Euro 2024 at the bottom of Group A, it’s safe to say it was a disappointing campaign for the Scots.
Overall, Robertson had a good tournament all things considered.
As per Sofa Score, Robertson averaged a 6.73 match rating for the competition and defensively he won 67 percent of all duels contested.
But as Moyes pointed out, it was at the other end of the pitch where Robertson was unable to replicate his Liverpool form.

Robertson ended the match with 0 accurate crosses out of only two attempts.
Which for the highest assisting full-back in Premier League history is an underwhelming statistic.
His 76 percent pass accuracy glosses over the 2/6 long ball accuracy as Robertson was a shadow of the player we know he can be.
The 30-year-old’s 31 per cent long ball and cross accuracy throughout the tournament paint the picture for his Euro 2024 campaign.
With 0 assists and only one key pass played, his impact for Scotland was non-existent.
New Liverpool manager Arne Slot will be hoping that this form doesn’t follow him back to Anfield.
His underwhelming stats in a tough group for Scotland isn’t a major concern for a player who can deliver so much more.
Liverpool fans will expect Robertson to return to his best form for the upcoming season.
