Adrian makes Liverpool contract decision amid Real Betis transfer news
Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has turned down a new contract offer as he finalises a move to Real Betis, according to ABC.
According to the report from the Spanish outlet, veteran Adrian has decided to end his five-year stay at Anfield and will return to the club where he began his career.
The 37-year-old failed to make an appearance for Liverpool last season as he sat behind Alisson and Caiomhin Kelleher in the pecking order.
Liverpool confirmed on their website earlier this month that they had made an offer to extend Adrian’s stay on Merseyside.
The veteran goalkeeper has decided to end his time in the Premier League after 26 appearances with the Reds following his move from West Ham in 2019.
What Adrian’s departure means for Liverpool
Liverpool had planned for Arne Slot’s first season at Anfield with Adrian amongst the goalkeeping ranks.
His departure followed by Kelleher’s admission that he wants to leave the Reds this summer leaves Slot with only one first team goalkeeper.
Vitezslav Jaros could be promoted to the first team after gaining Europa Conference League experience during his spell with SK Sturm Graz last season.
The 22-year-old is currently with the Czech Republic squad at EURO 2024 as they face a must win match against Turkey on Wednesday.

Adrian’s departure could help Liverpool’s transfer plans this summer as Richard Hughes begins his reign as the club’s sporting director.
The Spaniard currently occupies one of Liverpool’s non-homegrown player spots with the club registering 14 of the 17 player limit.
Jaros qualifies as a homegrown talent having come through the ranks of the academy and would allow Hughes one more spot to target further additions.
Should Kelleher follow Adrian out the door, the Reds would need to prioritise a homegrown replacement.
If Liverpool are to proceed with reported moves for the likes of Riccardo Calafiori and Nico Williams, it would be wise not to waste a spot on a third-choice goalkeeper.
