Arne Slot approves Liverpool move for Athletic Bilbao ace Nico Williams

Arne Slot has “approved” the potential transfer of Nico Williams to Liverpool this summer, according to Caught Offside.

The online media outlet reported on 22 June that the Reds “plan to check” on the situation of the forward throughout the transfer window.

The winger would cost Liverpool around £42.2million as Williams has a release clause within his contract which is valid until June 2027.

The report also goes on to state that despite Slot’s personal approval, the pathway to the transfer of the Spain international won’t be “clear” due to interest from teams such as Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Why Liverpool are vying for the transfer of an attacker this summer

Although the Reds have the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez within their ranks, the Anfield club lacked firepower in the final third towards the end of last season.

Hence why among the many targets Liverpool are being linked to this summer are forward with reports that Liverpool want to sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia [Caught Offside, 21 June] starting to appear recently.

The addition of either Williams or someone such as Kvaratskhelia would be an extremely strong coup for Slot’s team and would show the club mean business.

It would also provide the Reds with some much-needed depth outside of their starting 11.

If they can manage to bolster their ranks with the likes of these players or someone such as Rodrygo and Arda Guler [Estadio Deportivo, 22 June], there’s no limit to what the club could achieve next season.

In other Liverpool news, Jeremie Frimpong has been touted with a move to the Reds this summer.
