Liverpool ‘closely monitoring’ Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi this summer
Liverpool are ‘closely monitoring’ Marc Guehi ahead of a move in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
The centre-back has just two years remaining on his current contract at Crystal Palace but despite this, the Eagles are still reluctant to sell their star man.
The Reds aren’t the only team vying for his transfer as both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are mentioned In the report as potential destinations for the defender.
Why Liverpool are looking at defensive reinforcements this summer
It’s no surprise that Liverpool are exploring the transfer market for defensive reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Reds have already been linked with moves for both Lutsharel Geertruida [Algameen Dagblad, 5 June] and Jeremie Frimpong [SportBild, 13 June] with the defence evidently the main area the club would like to improve.
Although Joel Matip departing the club following his ACL injury near the start of the 2023/24 campaign is the best thing for both parties, it has left Arne Slot slightly light in centre-back.

As of the 18 June 2024, there are just three natural centre-backs within Liverpool’s ranks.
So, with this in mind, it’s not a surprise that Guehi and even Lille’s star boy Leny Yoro are being linked with a move to Anfield.
In fact, Liverpool have even had a bid in the region of £40m rejected from the French club [Mundo Deportivo, 16 June] for the 18-year-old.
Only time will tell which players Slot will bring in this summer, but no matter what, it’s likely to be a new look team come the start of the campaign.
