Liverpool given hope in pursuit of Leny Yoro as Real Madrid ‘set limit’ for transfer
Liverpool have been given hope for the transfer of Leny Yoro this summer as Real Madrid have “set a limit” of £33.6m for his move, according to Football Espana.
Although Yoro is seen as Real Madrid’s “centre-back of the future” Los Blancos will not get into a bidding war for the 18-year-old.
Yoro’s preference is reportedly to move to Spain, however, if a move doesn’t come to fruition, he could explore opportunities in the Premier League.
Who is Leny Yoro and why does Liverpool want him?
As aforementioned, Yoro is just 18 years old but has played a pivotal role within the Lille side since making his first-team debut during the 2021/22 season.
The defender has played a total of 60 games for the French club and has even scored four goals.
He has been one of, if not the best defender in Bruno Genesio’s team and has been attracting attention from many of Europe’s elite.

It’s no real surprise that Liverpool are vying for the transfer of a defender this summer following the departure of Joel Matip.
The former Cameroon international left the Reds upon the expiry of his contract which has left Arne Slot with just three natural centre-backs.
Despite Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konate being stellar defenders, each have their own disadvantages.
Quansah had a solid season and was Jurgen Klopp’s preferred partner for Van Dijk but, the defender is still young and needs time to develop further.
Konate, on the other hand is one of the Premier League’s strongest central defenders but his injury history raises questions about his availability.
So with these reasons in mind, it comes as no real surprise that high on the Reds’ priority list is that of a centre-back.
Yoro would be an ideal addition to Arne Slot’s squad and could be the perfect candidate to be mentored by Van Dijk due to his age and ability to learn.
However, a deal will only be struck if Madrid choose to not advance with a move, which, as shown by prior windows, isn’t something that they often do.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds are set to enter the battle to sign Jeremie Frimpong this summer.
