Fabrizio Romano shares Liverpool transfer stance on Justin Biljow

Liverpool might be on the lookout for a back-up goalkeeper this summer but there is nothing concrete yet on Feyenoord stopper Justin Biljow, Fabrizio Romano has said.

The Italian journalist detailed on his Daily Briefing that the Reds and Arsenal could both be in the hunt for reinforcement between the sticks this window.

However, he added that as things stand no talks or negotiations have taken place with Liverpool for Biljow to his knowledge.

Why are Liverpool looking at potential goalkeeper targets this summer?

Liverpool have arguably two of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League with both Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher on their books.

Despite the Brazil international being the clear number one in the squad when called upon Kelleher has also been outstanding.

The Republic of Ireland international has played a total of 26 times across all competitions for the Anfield club, keeping five clean sheets.

However, as he is now entering the prime of his career, it’s looking more and more likely that the 25-year-old will be departing sooner rather than later.

And, as reported by the Liverpool ECHO (12 June), the Reds rejected an offer of £15m in January for the shot-stopper and would require at least double that for them to part ways with him.

But, if a move does occur, Arne Slot will need to find a backup ‘keeper for the upcoming season.

The 26-year-old had a stellar season under Slot at Feyenoord last term as he played a total of 24 games and managed to keep a total of nine clean sheets.

A keeper of Biljow’s standards coming to Liverpool would be a statement that the Reds are gunning for everything possible and will outline their intentions for the season.
