Liverpool transfer stance on Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz shared
Liverpool are not looking to make a move for Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz this summer, according to the Liverpool ECHO.
This comes after the Reds had long been rumoured as a potential destination for the attacking midfielder.
However, Leverkusen’s reported asking price of £100million is deemed too steep of a fee for Liverpool to pay in the upcoming transfer window.
With this in mind, the report goes on to detail that Wirtz is now expected to stay with the Bundesliga winners for at least the next term.
Why Liverpool should target Florian Wirtz next season?
Although Liverpool’s attack is arguably one of the strongest areas in their team, another creative midfielder would be an ideal acquisition for Arne Slot next season.
The attacking midfielder has had a stellar campaign with Xabi Alonso’s team, playing a total of 49 games and contributing to 38 goals.
Over half of those came as assists which is exactly the sort of creative force Liverpool are missing.
Granted they have the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, however, that level of creativity puts Wirtz among the elite and he has the potential to be among the world’s best.

His addition would also allow Slot to change the formation to his favoured 4-2-3-1 without sacrificing the quality of certain positions.
In addition, with Szoboszlai just joining the team last season and Harvey Elliott undergoing a stellar run of form towards the back end of the term, it’s not necessarily a position that the Reds need to desperately fill.
But, if the opportunity became available to sign the youngster next season, Slot should definitely explore it as a potential possibility.
Although the Reds’ attack is already fairly stacked, following the underwhelming performances on display by the likes of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz towards the end of the season, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to one of the three leave at some point over the course of the 2024/25 season.
There have already been murmurs of a move away for both Diaz and Salah so a move could be closer than many anticipate.
In other Liverpool news, Georginio Wijnaldum has shared his thoughts on the Reds’ appointment of Arne Slot.
