Fabrizio Romano provides Liverpool update on Teun Koopmeiners as European rivals make him ‘top target’
Juventus have made Liverpool-linked Teun Koopmeiners a “top target” this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The report on Caught Office on 26 May reveals that, while the Reds have been linked with a move for the Atalanta midfielder, nothing concrete has taken place with regards to a potential transfer as new boss Arne Slot weighs up his options.
However, Serie A giants Juventus are thought to be extremely keen on the Dutchman and could pip Liverpool to his signature.
Would missing out on Teun Koopmeiners be a mistake for Liverpool?
Koopmeiners has enjoyed an exceptionally prolific season from midfield for Atalanta, racking up 15 goals and seven assists in all competitions – with 12 goals and five assists coming in Serie A.
However, he vastly outperformed his Serie A xG of 6.45 in the process, casting doubt over the sustainability of his scoring rate [FotMob].
Additionally, his xGOT (expected goals on target) of 6.28 suggests the midfielder may have been fortunate to record such an exceptional tally.
However, Koopmeiners has demonstrated his ability in front of goal over several seasons, racking up 10 league strikes last season and 15 in his final year at AZ Alkmaar, building on his 11 Eredivisie goals from the 2019/20 campaign.

If Liverpool and Slot are beaten to the 26-year-old by Juventus, they will be missing out on a prolific finisher.
