Barcelona eye Liverpool ace Luis Diaz as Deco holds agent talks
Barcelona sporting director Deco has met Luis Diaz’s agents about a possible transfer move for the Liverpool winger, according to AS.
The report on 25 May reveals that Deco is particularly keen on signing the Colombian as he attempts to reshape Barcelona’s sporting identity.
The Catalan giants reportedly hope to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding player futures following the arrival of new head coach Arne Slot as a replacement for legendary manager Jurgen Klopp.
Should Liverpool sell Luis Diaz?
There is no denying that Diaz has been an important player for Liverpool since his arrival – and he has been a key player this season as well.
In fact, the wide attacker played the second-most minutes of any Reds player across all competitions this term, racking up 3,613 minutes despite a brief break from the starting line-up following the kidnapping of his father – only Virgil van Dijk (4,072 minutes) featured more often.
Diaz’s attacking returns have been solid, too – 13 goals and five assists in all competitions – but those numbers pale in comparison to those of his attacking teammates.
Mohammed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota all managed more goals and more combined goals and assists than the Colombian despite playing fewer minutes.

As a result, it is possible that incoming head coach Slot will feel that the 27-year-old is not indispensible and should a hefty offer arrive for Diaz, the Dutchman may be minded to consider it.
