Liverpool expect transfer business as ‘Huge Money’ Mohamed Salah offer mooted

Liverpool are expecting to do plenty of business in the transfer window this summer, but a “huge money offer” for Mohamed Salah could change things, according to Dan Plumley.

The Reds have replaced Jurgen Klopp with Arne Slot in the dugout, with the club back in the Champions League after a year away and are expected to invest in their squad.

And when asked if plans will be in place for the new manager, the football finance expert admitted he expects changes at Anfield amid the club’s “financial power” but suggested things could change with a big bid to take a star man away.

I think that’s likely for various reasons,” he exclusively told Liverpool News.

“Obviously the financial power of Liverpool is far greater than West Ham, they can spend if they want to, their revenue is far higher and all those metrics that we look at against the regulations they’re okay and etc etc.

“They can certainly spend if they want to and you look at falling away towards the business end of this season, that will have hurt obviously. Jurgen Klopp has been phenomenal for the football club, but another transition to come now. Some players have already left, you might expect a couple more. I guess the big thing is does a huge money offer come in for Mo Salah again, and does that change the dynamics?

“But the new manager now will already have plans in place and those conversations will have been taking shape, so yeah, if you’re comparing it to West Ham as an example with a new manager, I think it’s certainly likely that Liverpool have got the financial firepower over West Ham and I think you will see some investment into the playing side of things from Liverpool this summer as they look to challenge for the title again.

“That’s where they need to be isn’t it, so yeah, potentially some incomings, maybe one or two outgoings as well.”

Liverpool must back Arne Slot for immediate Anfield success

There may be no bigger job in football than walking into Anfield and replacing Klopp as the manager of Liverpool, but that is what Slot must do this summer.

And to do it successfully he will need to put his stamp on the squad and club, and that will require the board to back him however they can.

He will already have an idea and plans in mind on how to best get his ideas across, and he will know which players he will want to keep and which players he will want to bring in to help the process.

Liverpool Mo Salah

But if a major bid comes in for Salah, who is 32 next month and entering the final year of his contract, then it must surely be considered and could help speed up a rebuilding process.

Either way, there will be several new faces in the door this summer and other more familiar faces will leave too, so it’s bound to be exciting.
