Orkun Kokcu price tag mooted as Arne Slot eyes up first Liverpool transfer

Liverpool will likely have to pay over £38million for Orkun Kokcu as new Liverpool boss Arne Slot eyes up his first signing at the club, according to A Bola.

The report on 22 May reveals that Slot is very keen to reunite with his former charge, having worked with the Turkish midfielder at Feyenoord.

And, given his signing by Benfica is the most expensive in the league’s history – £21m with an additional £4m in add-ons – the Portuguese giants are thought to be likely to expect to make a significant profit on their purchase in order to let him leave.

What would Orkun Kokcu bring to Liverpool?

Kokcu is an attacking midfielder who offers a great deal of threat in the final third – he has netted seven goals and eight assists in 1,795 league minutes across 27 appearances this term.

That is an impressive return indeed for a midfielder – and it appears sustainable, too, given his underlying numbers are so strong.

He has racked up 23 shots on target, 52 chances created and 44 touches in the opposition box in the Portuguese top flight – demonstrating the strength of his influence in attacking areas [FotMob].

His effectiveness high up the field is not limited to his ability with the ball, either. Kokcu has also won possession in the final third 20 times in league competition, making him a good fit for a side that prides itself on its pressing ability – though it remains to be seen how significant that will continue to be for Liverpool under new head coach Slot.

One way or another, Kokcu looks to be an excellent addition to Liverpool’s stable of midfielders – if they can agree on a price for him.
