Liverpool want to sign Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon
Liverpool are interested in signing Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon this summer, according to the Daily Star.
Writing on their website (12 May), the news outlet report that the Reds have identified the Magpies winger as a target for the summer after his spectacular season.
Newcastle are expected to sell at least one, potentially two, leading first-team stars this summer to comply with PSR rules and that has alerted Liverpool to the opportunity to sign the 23-year-old former Everton star.
Anthony Gordon to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool?
Gordon has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season with 11 goals and ten assists, becoming the first Newcastle player to hit those numbers since Ruel Fox.
He has also broken into the England senior team and could be heading to the Euros with Gareth Southgate’s squad, which would only further push his price tag up.
But with the future of Mohamed Salah up in the air amid Jurgen Kopp’s exit, plus Luis Diaz’s contract situation still to be sorted out, a new winger looks likely to come in.

Liverpool are back in the Champions League next season after securing a third-place finish and that will help to attract the biggest and best players to Anfield.
Gordon will be expensive but as a boyhood Liverpool fan he would surely be open to the move, and this could be one to watch in the coming months as Arne Slot prepares to put his stamp on the squad.
In other Liverpool news, finance expert Dan Plumley has reacted to news of £13m compensation being needed to bring in Arne Slot.
