Jurgen Klopp send-off ready as Liverpool squad message sent ahead of Wolves showdown

Harvey Elliott has shared the determination to give Jurgen Klopp a fitting send-off in his last game as Liverpool manager against Wolves on 19 May.

The legendary Reds boss is set to step down after eight-and-a-half years on Merseyside when the final whistle goes at Anfield.

And Elliott feels it is “the least” the players can do to produce a “top performance” for their departing manager.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website (14 May), he said: “The achievements that [Klopp] has achieved as a manager and for us as players, the experiences that we have gained, we can never say thank you enough.

“The least we can do is go out and perform for him and put our hearts on the line. He’s given us many opportunities and turned us into men.

“It’s going to be an emotional day. Us as players and us as a club, we can’t thank the coaching staff and himself enough and I think the least we can do is put in a top performance for him and give him the best possible send-off. I know as a club we are going to do that with the fans behind us as well.

“There’s one man who deserves that in this world and that’s the boss. For us as players, we just want to go out and play the best possible football we can.

“We are on our home turf and we’ll come to the emotions after the game.”

Liverpool will want to give Jurgen Klopp a fitting send-off

As far as sporting achievement goes, Liverpool have nothing left to play for this season – but with Klopp set to bring a sensational spell in charge to a close, the players will certainly feel a responsibility to end the German’s tenure in the right way.

The Reds were able to clinch the League Cup, but the Premier League – where they are guaranteed to finish third – and the Europa League evaded them, preventing Klopp from delivering one more trophy after announcing his departure.

Still, an emphatic win and an invigorating performance in front of an emotional Anfield crowd would be no less than Klopp deserves, given what he has achieved at Liverpool.

The 56-year-old has led the Reds to a treasure trove of silverware in an era where Manchester City have hoovered up most of the trophies on offer.

Under Klopp, Liverpool have won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup (twice), Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield.

As his tenure ends, Reds fans can only hope the next eight-and-half years bring as much success.
