Doctor issues injury update on Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara

Liverpool appear to be in the dark surrounding Thiago Alcantara’s return from injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert came across Jurgen Klopp’s update on the Spanish midfielder on 27 February and the German failed to give a definite timescale on the 33-year-old.

It does seem likely that he will not be fit enough to return from his thigh injury before the end of the season.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Liverpool News 247

My reading on what Klopp’s said is that the club don’t really know when he may or may not be back.

He’s been ramped up multiple times and had setbacks, came back for a game and then picked up another injury and so on.

At that point, it’s one of those things where you really just have to play it by ear. It’s very likely that he does not return again this season.

Thiago has been anonymous for Liverpool this season

The 33-year-old has managed to play just five minutes for the Reds this term in the 3-1 defeat against Arsenal on 4 February.

Last season, Thiago battled fitness issues as well but managed to feature in 18 Premier League games.

With his contract running out in June, there’s a high probability that Liverpool fans have seen the last of Thiago at Anfield.

In other Liverpool news, Klopp wants the Reds to sign this player in the summer despite the fact he’s on his way out.
