Jamie Carragher calls Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah ‘daft’ for what he did after Jurgen Klopp spat
Jamie Carragher labelled Mohamed Salah “daft” for his comments in the mixed zone following his in-game spat with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Egyptian forward Salah was seen demonstrating with Klopp, who will depart Anfield this summer, shortly before coming on as a substitute in the Reds’ 2-2 draw at West Ham on Saturday (27 April).
Reds great Carragher said there was no need to take sides between the two but felt Salah, 31, was silly for saying there will be “fire” if he answered questions on the incident when he walked through the mixed zone.
Posting on X (28 April), Carragher wrote: “MO Salah & Jurgen Klopp are both Liverpool legends. We don’t need to take sides!
“Salah is frustrated & angry with Jurgen that he’s not playing & at that moment didn’t want to fully embrace the boss, Jurgen understandably took exception.
“MO was daft with his comment in the mixed zone but lets let them sort it out & enjoy the last few weeks together. They’ve been a massive help to each other in all that’s been achieved at the club!”
Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah wrong for mixed zone comments
Carragher is absolutely spot on here and is the ideal voice of reason.
Klopp is a Reds legend. Salah is a Reds legend. They had a bit of a tiff, that’s all this was, there is no need to make more of a meal of it.
That is where Salah did left himself down a bit. He could have just avoided the reporters, he could have just said “no comment”, the “fire” thing was just a bit needless and got tongues wagging where they didn’t need to be wagging.
Salah is a born winner, so of course he was frustrated not to be playing. You can understand why Klopp was miffed if he felt disrespected by his star forward.
Ultimately, though, you feel like the two will patch up their differences this week, it feels like a none story and one that Liverpool fans won’t want to sour the final few weeks with their beloved gaffer.
