Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp makes ‘Crazy’ Mohamed Salah admission

Jurgen Klopp has admitted it was “Crazy” to have Mohamed Salah on the bench as Liverpool beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage on Sunday 21 April.

The Egyptian was given a rest alongside Darwin Nunez, with Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota starting, the latter scoring the third goal.

Klopp was happy with the options he finally had available after plenty of injuries striking him throughout his squad this season already.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, as shared by Liverpool, Klopp was delighted with the options that he had available at Craven Cottage.

“To have them all back and mix it up [is important] – to bring on Darwin [Nunez] and Mo today is a crazy situation,” he said.

“It didn’t work out a little bit because of offsides, but it looked really dangerous, so now let’s see how we start the next game. It is really cool to have Diogo back, not only because of the goal but as well because of the performance.”

Crazy Mohamed Salah development at Liverpool

Given that the Egyptian king has only recently come back from injury, it was great to be able to hand him a rest and still come away with all three points.

Both Salah and Nunez came on towards the end of the game, after a mentally taxing trip to Atalanta only three days beforehand for the squad.

Thankfully, it all played out nicely and with the Premier League title race still wide open against Arsenal and Manchester City, having Salah at 100 per cent will be key.

Liverpool Mo Salah

With Klopp leaving in the summer, it would be easy for him to throw Salah in his starting side every week, pushing him to guide his side to the Premier League.

Instead, he has been smart with his management and now Everton will be fearing what the winger could do to them in the upcoming Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Injury problems have disappeared now, and it’s time to get another huge three points.
