Liverpool make approach to seal Willian Pacho transfer at Anfield
Liverpool have made an approach to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on X (16 April) that Arsenal are another club interested, with both making initial inquiries to the Germans.
Frankfurt are said to be demanding up to £51.2million for one of their key players, who has a long-term contract until 2028.
Liverpool to seal Willian Pacho transfer?
It feels strange to be talking about transfers at Anfield with Jurgen Klopp set to be replaced by a new manager in the summer.
Of course, Michael Edwards and his team will be drafting up a shortlist of names for whoever takes over from the German, with groundwork being put in place.
Injuries have hit the Reds hard this season, with Jarell Quansah forced to play more than expected ahead of Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip.
Ruben Amorim has been named as the favourite to replace Klopp already, so it will be interesting to see if Pacho is the sort of player he would want to bring in.
At over £50million, it would be a massive outlay for someone who isn’t necessarily guaranteed to get in the side ahead of Virgil van Dijk and Konate when everyone is fit.
This is definitely one to watch ahead of the summer transfer window at Anfield.
