Liverpool: Super computer makes new Premier League title prediction

Liverpool only stand an 11.7 per cent chance of lifting the Premier League title after their 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday 14 April.

Opta’s supercomputer now has Manchester City as the strong favourite for the top spot, with Arsenal also losing to Aston Villa on the same day.

It’s a drastic swing from before the defeat at Anfield, with the Reds having a 29.1 per cent chance of lifting the title before the latest matchday.

Nightmare week at Anfield for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp could not quite believe his eyes as Eberechi Eze scored the winner early in the first half, with his side capitulating in front of him.

Crystal Palace’s win followed Atalanta destroying the Reds in the Europa League only days before, in a week that could not have gone much worse.

Klopp would have been wanting his final season at Anfield to end in the Premier League title, but his early announcement could now backfire on the club.

With players coming back from injury though, and the potential for anything to happen in the best league in the world, Liverpool will still have faith.

Manchester City have done this time and time again though, and now they are in the driving seat, both Liverpool and Arsenal will be fearing the worst for their title hopes.

With the chances dropping significantly because of one defeat, the Reds will now have their fingers crossed for a football miracle over the next month.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds have announced their plans to introduce season ticket price rises for the new campaign.
