Liverpool: Paul Merson makes brand new Premier League title prediction on Sky Sports

Paul Merson has insisted that Liverpool and Arsenal are still the favourites to lift the Premier League title this season ahead of Manchester City.

The Citizens smashed Luton Town 5-1 on Saturday 13 April to return to the top spot, but that will be lost if the Reds or the Gunners win their games.

Merson admitted that until it is the hands of Pep Guardiola, Liverpool and Arsenal are the two that are currently favourites in the Premier League.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, as shared on their X account on 13 April, Merson shared who he thinks are favourites for the title.

“If Arsenal and Liverpool go perfect from now until the end of the season, Manchester City can’t do anything about it,” he said. “It’s still out of their hands.

“Until it’s in their hands, for me, they’ve got to keep on going and going.

“I still think it’s Arsenal and Liverpool.”

Liverpool to win the Premier League?

Klopp officially announced his exit from Anfield months ago, and the Premier League title would be the perfect way for him to bow out at the very top.

After the shocking defeat against Atalanta in midweek, the Europa League looks unlikely to be coming back to Anfield, so attention may switch to the big prize.

A win against Crystal Palace on Sunday 14 April would put Liverpool back above Manchester City, but goal difference currently has Arsenal in the driving seat.

Anything can happen in the Premier League, and Klopp’s experience of that could put him ahead of Mikel Arteta in these final few games.

With huge games against the likes of Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa to come between now and the end of the season, it will not be easy.

Lifting the Premier League is never easy though, and everyone will have the ultimate faith in Klopp getting his side over the line for the grand prize again.

In other Liverpool news, the club have announced plans to increase season ticket prices.
