Contract signed: Liverpool agree new deal with Calum Scanlon at Anfield
Liverpool have confirmed that Calum Scanlon has signed a new, extended contract at Anfield on Tuesday 9 April.
The left-back made his first-team debut in the Europa League this season, playing against Toulouse and Union SG during the group stages.
Signed from Birmingham back 2021, this is the third contract Scanlon has committed too already during his time at the club.
Liverpool youngsters shine at Anfield yet again
Jurgen Klopp has never been afraid to throw young players into the deep end if needed, and injuries have forced his hand more than once already this season.
The German makes no excuses though and he has still brought the best out of the talent he has, with Scanlon following the likes of Conor Bradley and Jayden Danns.
With Ruben Amorim verbally agreeing to take over from Klopp next season, hopefully, he can continue that trend with the talent at his disposal.
Xabi Alonso was another potential candidate to take the job, and he would have been great with these younger players coming through, but that isn’t meant to be at this stage.
With Andrew Robertson suffering constant injuries this season and Kostas Tsimikas not exactly trusted long-term, the door may be slightly open for Scanlon to take his chance again soon.
Time will tell if he has what it takes, he is certainly being backed by the club.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds have announced their plans to introduce season ticket price rises for the new campaign.
