Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has emerged as the favourite to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [06 April, pg 103] that the Portuguese boss has refused to commit his future to the club after "major" interest from Anfield.

Klopp is weeks away from leaving Anfield after confirming his decision to stand down earlier in the season, with the Premier League and Europa League still up for grabs.

Ruben Amorim to Liverpool?

Klopp has made it very clear that he is packing his bags at the end of the season and made that decision early enough for the Reds to take their time on a huge decision.

Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are starting their spell at Anfield with the biggest decision they will likely ever make, with Xabi Alonso one of those involved in early talks.

After the Spaniard confirmed he was staying at Bayer Leverkusen beyond this season to take them into the Champions League, focus switched very quickly elsewhere.

Given that sources in Portugal have said it is almost certain Amorim will leave Portugal in the summer, now appears the perfect time to make the switch to Anfield.

The camp of the 39-year-old is actively exploring options in England for his next job, and there are no bigger than the hotseat at Anfield, just ask Klopp.

This is one to watch.
