Liverpool: Price Kobe Cisse will look to emulate father Djibril’s weekend goal at Anfield

Djibril Cissé scored in the 4-2 Legends win over Ajax on Saturday (23 March) but it is his son who could yet be an asset for the club in future.

According to the Liverpool Echo Price Kobe Cissé is playing up the age groups as the youngster is still only 15 but is already impressing.

The teenager, a forward like his father, is therefore some way off being in contention for the senior Liverpool set up, but has been capped at under-16s level by Wales.

LFC TV‘s Peter McDowell, commentating on the game, said after Cissé senior’s goal, via the Echo: “He’s looking up into the stands for his boys who are all footballers now as well. At Nottingham Forest, Notts County – he’s got one who made his debut for Liverpool U18s last night.”

It is unclear the circumstances of the game as the most recent under-18s league fixture was a 3-1 defeat to Leeds United the previous week.

High hopes for second generation Liverpool striker

If Cissé junior needed any more inspiration to make it at the club then his father’s goal in a side managed by former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson can’t have hurt.

The 41-cap France international featured alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres in front of nearly 60,000 at Anfield in the comeback victory.

The youngster will hope to have far better luck on the injury front in his own career than former Sunderland and QPR man Djibril, who infamously suffered two broken legs during his time playing, including a particularly serious one while at Liverpool in 2004.

He recovered from both to forge a long career that saw the now-42-year-old play well into his 30s, and now his three sons will be hoping to follow in his footsteps.

Prince Kobe may be some way off being a close to featuring at Anfield for the first team but he appears to have made some positive steps down the age groups already, so may be in contention before too long in the post-Jurgen Klopp era, potentially even under the guidance of one of his father’s former teammates in Xabi Alonso.
