Man United could be without Casemiro v Liverpool in FA Cup showdown – Fabrizio Romano

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp may have received a new boost ahead of their showdown with Manchester United after a new update emerged surrounding Casemiro.

Jurgen Klopp’s side make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday (17 March) as they look to book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and build upon their 6-1 thrashing of Sparta Prague in the Europa League.

The Reds side has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks, with the likes of Diogo Jota, Allison and Ibrahima Konate all stuck on the treatment table, but it appears as though United may have a few fitness problems of their own to contend with.

Fabrizio Romano reported via X on Sunday (17 March) that Brazil have confirmed that Casemiro will miss their March international fixtures through injury, only hours before Erik ten Hag’s side face Liverpool.

Will Casemiro be fit to start for Manchester United against Liverpool in the FA Cup?

While the Brazilian hasn’t been in the best form so far this season, he is one of the Red Devils’ better players when fit, so it will be a huge boost to Klopp’s side’s hopes that the 32-year-old almost certainly won’t be included on Sunday.

Liverpool will have been confident of getting a result at Old Trafford anyway following their huge win in Europe, but derby fixtures are never as easy as they seem on paper so the Reds will take any boost that comes their way.

While the Premier League and progression into the Europa League final will likely be top of Klopp’s priority list at this moment in time, progression to the FA Cup semi-final will keep the dream of a potential quadruple alive for a little while longer yet.

Hopefully, the Reds will be able to repeat their previous heroics at Old Trafford and book their place in the next round. Given their recent record at Wembley, there won’t be many teams who will want to face them in the semi-final.
